The Legacy Fund of Lucha and Solidarity

Honoring the struggle. Sustaining the solidarity. Building the future.

What is the Legacy Fund?

The Legacy Fund of Lucha and Solidarity is CARECEN's enduring commitment to the Central American immigrant community in Los Angeles. Established to carry forward decades of advocacy, legal defense, and community building, the Fund ensures that the work begun by our founders continues for generations to come.

Through planned and major gifts, donors invest in long-term capacity: legal services, youth education, day labor support, crisis response, and the deep community organizing that has defined CARECEN since 1983.

Why This Matters Now

Immigrant communities face unprecedented challenges. Policy shifts, economic pressure, and a changing legal landscape demand a CARECEN that can respond with strength, speed, and stability — today and decades from now.

Your legacy gift is more than a contribution. It is a declaration that the lucha — the struggle — and the solidarity that fuels it will not end. It is the foundation on which the next generation of advocates, attorneys, and organizers will stand.

The Ceiba Tree

In Central American tradition, the Ceiba is the tree of life — its roots run deep into the earth, its branches reach toward the sky, and its trunk stands firm through every storm.

At CARECEN, the Ceiba is more than a symbol. It is the memorial mural that greets every visitor, every client, every advocate who walks through our doors. It honors the lives, the journeys, and the sacrifices of the community we serve.

Gifts to the Legacy Fund are honored on the Ceiba — each contribution a leaf, branch, root, or part of the trunk that holds the tree, and the movement, in place.

Recognition Opportunities

Every gift to the Legacy Fund is recognized on the Ceiba memorial. Donors at each tier receive specific acknowledgments that reflect the depth of their commitment.

Trunk

$25,000 – $50,000

The foundation of the Ceiba. Trunk donors are recognized with premier placement on the memorial mural and named within CARECEN's annual report and legacy recognition events.

Roots

$10,000

The deep anchors of the tree. Roots donors are honored on the mural and invited to private briefings with CARECEN leadership on long-term programmatic strategy.

Branches

$5,000

The reach of the movement. Branches donors are recognized on the Ceiba and acknowledged in CARECEN's annual donor communications.

Leaves

Under $5,000

Every leaf matters. Leaves donors are acknowledged on the Ceiba and join a growing community of supporters whose collective gifts sustain CARECEN's mission.
