Los Angeles— During an ICE raid in Minneapolis, Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother who was on site as a legal observer, was killed by federal agents while she was in her vehicle. Following the incident, the Trump administration quickly labeled her an agitator and a “domestic terrorist.”
In Response the Central American Resource Center of Los Angeles issued the following Statement:
Stop the bloodshed. Stop the persecution.
Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen and mother, was killed by federal agents. We stand with her family and with all those who have lost loved ones as a result of yet another act of law enforcement violence. Renne Cole Good, Carlos Montoya Valdez, Jean Wilson Brutis, Santos Reyes Banegas, these are just some of the approximately 40 names that have died in the hands of ICE in the past year. The violence and terror our country is facing is the representation of a system out of control.
We call on DHS, Congress and the White House to confront the consequences of their actions. We reject the lies, fear-based narratives and racist political agendas used to justify violent and harmful enforcement practices. We bear witness to this administration weaponizing taxpayer dollars to tear our communities apart.
As Congress reenters negotiations this week and pushes for additional funding for immigration detention and enforcement, we urge allies, community members and all who believe in justice, accountability and human dignity to speak out. In a democracy, representatives are obligated to listen to “We the People.” We must reaffirm our shared values and our collective call for peace and the right to live with dignity. Now is the time to contact your members of Congress and demand accountability and transparency in how public dollars are spent.
