Los Angeles, CA – CARECEN-LA stands in solidarity and sorrow, with Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, following the domestic terrorist attacks in Atlanta and the growing assaults throughout the country.
In a country that has a long history of white supremacy and systemic racism against Asian Americans, it has only continued to rise since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As those directly affected communities continue to grieve, we must stand in solidarity to end the violence, systemic racism, and hate-based violence against Asian American and Pacific Islander Communities.
We must start taking action by addressing the root causes of hate and investing in the needs of our communities. The rise in attacks against the APPI community must stop now. We call on our allies to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters and we call on our elected officials to immediately address xenophobic-driven hate crimes that are poisoning our communities.
