Job Summary
The outreach coordinator supports the College Legal Services (CLS) team in promoting the College Legal Services’ resources including outreach to California State Universities and Community Colleges, supporting immigration advocacy based on data trends, and serving as liaison between the team and legal advocacy fellows at each campus.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Build relationships and collaborate with Undocumented Student Centers (Dream Resource Centers, DREAM Centers, etc.) allies, and other campus affiliates.
- Promote legal services on college campuses.
- Develop individual outreach strategies for local California State Universities and Community Colleges.
- Plan, prepare, and present training meetings and gatherings for legal advocacy fellowship in partnership with supervising attorney.
- Conduct routine check-ins with CLS legal advocacy fellows at each participating
- Work with CLS team members and Legal Advocacy Fellowship participants to implement outreach strategies.
- Curate and create CLS brand presence for various platforms, including CARECEN’s website, social media, and merchandise.
- Track and analyze social media engagement and adjust strategy
- Coordinate and promote events.
- Coordinate with external consultants or vendors as needed for outreach materials.
- Administrative duties as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Self-confidence, ability to interact with campus partners and allies, and give presentations to groups of various sizes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and social media platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Verbal and written fluency in Spanish and English languages.
- Sensitivity and desire to work with immigrant communities.
- Attention to detail and effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently.
- Demonstrated commitment to mission and goals of CARECEN.
- Experience in communications planning, networking, and outreach.
Classification and Work Schedule
The position is a full-time non-exempt (hourly) position. The work schedule for this position is a 35-hour workweek equaling 7-hour workdays. Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. This position requires frequent weekend work, which, when applicable, will reduce the number of hours worked during Monday-Friday. The position is part of the bargaining unit represented by the union.
Travel Requirement
Ability to travel to CARECEN offices, and other off-site locations. Mileage reimbursement is available. Ability to drive with a valid CA license and a registered vehicle is required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position operates in a professional office environment. The position requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Work is performed in a variety of work settings, including CARECEN’s offices, workspace provided by other nonprofits, and government facilities, among others.
