CARECEN-LA Calls for De-escalation and Withdrawal of Military Personnel from Southern California

CARECEN-LA expresses deep concern over the further deployment of military personnel onto the streets of Los Angeles amid ongoing ICE raids. The initial deployment of 2,000 National Guard agents was an act of provocation— now, reports indicate that an additional 700 U.S. Marines have been sent. We must continue to uplift our communities and be absolutely clear: we are not at war—but the federal government is treating Angelenos as if we are. This is nothing more than a political game, designed to shift blame onto communities that are simply responding to the trauma of having their loved ones abducted by federal agents.

Meanwhile, the federal government is actively violating the law—detaining community members without warrants, apprehending migrants during their legal processing, and denying entry to both attorneys and Members of Congress at detention facilities. It’s also extremely alarming to see the lengths these agents are going to in order to apprehend people—without judicial orders, based solely on profiling and the color of their skin.

CARECEN-LA demands an end to the militarization of our city, access to counsel and due process for detained migrants, and an immediate stop to ICE raids!
