Liberia DED Decision

For Immediate Release

3/28/18

Trump Administration's Decision to end Deferred Enforcement Departure for Liberia is Inhumane and Cruel

We denounce the Administration’s decision to end Deferred Enforcement Departure (DED) for Liberia on March 2019. Just like with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) programs, the Administration along with other advising bodies have not taken responsible steps to ensure that their decisions are thoroughly informed. They have neglected to study country conditions and give genuine explanations to the thousands of families that will be separated as a result.  We urge Congress to pass permanent solutions that are inclusive and fair. We must continue to work together to keep this Administration accountable for the cruel and inhumane actions it has taken against our communities. "We stand with our 4,000 Liberian DED brothers and sisters and we will continue to fight until our immigrant communities are granted justice." said Martha Arevalo, Executive Director of CARECEN Los Angeles.
