TECH-REC Center - The Tech-Rec Center is CARECEN’s newest addition. The center will serve high school age youth by offering a variety of constructive activities, while also being open as a safe and informal space. The ground floor will offer a variety of activities from mural art to capoiera classes and digital story telling. In addition, youth will have access to laptops in a wireless environment in which they are free to do home work or simply relax. At the heart of the center will be a commitment to youth organizing and leadership development. The center will be driven by a youth-led council, and the center will serve as a home to youth organizing groups.
Youth Leadership - Carasol Juvenil is a CARECEN program that nurtures the capacity of youth to build community/power in the Pico Union neighborhood of Los Angeles. The program interweaves youth leadership; community organizing and youth mentorship components to ensure the holistic development of a new, sustainable generation of community leaders, healers and champions of human rights. Through popular education techniques, Carasol builds the capacity of youth to run their own campaigns, effectively run their own student organizations, and achieve their personal goals.

After-School Programs - CARECEN’s after-school programs serves youth in 2nd through 8th grades in the Pico Union area and supports and improves student academic achievement utilizing popular education methods. Through this methodology, we seek to promote social change, provide youth with knowledge that is significant and relevant to the community and promote the integration of family & school.
