Join Central American Resource Center (CARECEN-LA), National Day Laborer Organizing Network and Hondureños Unidos de Los Angeles as they share their testimonies and the next steps of their journey.
Norman Varela, Fredy Vega and Jose Geremias are among the 13 Honduran migrants who left their country to come to the U.S. on February 25th, 2015. They were stopped at the U.S.-Mexico border and were in detention for several weeks. Manu Chao’s El Viento music video was dedicated to honor their courage.
Just released from detention, they were represented by lawyers from RAIZ and thousands of petitions were sent to the Obama administration demanding their release.
They have a lot to share. Not just their individual stories but how the militarization and deportation policies of all countries are not only ineffective, they violate basic concepts of human dignity and rights.
