Civic and Cultural Participation programs are designed to promote the cultural and political participation of Central Americans/Latinos in the United States; to build alliances with organizations working on issues of mutual interest; and to promote improved relations among different ethnic and racial groups.

Economic Integration
The vendor pilot project presented in conjunction with the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) through which vendors have semi-permanent stalls at three MTA plazas. In addition, CARECEN works with the Sidewalk Vending Coalition of Los Angeles (SVCLA) to promote and advocate for the rights of street vendors.

Organizing, advocating and providing technical assistance to Central Americans working to secure permanent legal status in the United States. CARECEN works in conjunction with the Central American Coalition of Los Angeles, Salvadoran American National Network, United Hondurans of Los Angeles (HULA) and the ABC Committee.

      Ethnic Relations (LDIR)

An annual six-month seminar program designed to mobilize community residents of all ages and backgrounds presented in collaboration with the Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC) and the Martin Luther King Dispute Resolution Center of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
