CARECEN-LA STATEMENT ON DREAM & PROMISE LEGISLATION
Los Angeles, CA – On Tuesday March 12th, House Democrats plan to introduce the Dream & Promise Act, legislation that enacts a permanent solution to TPS, DACA and DED recipients.
In response, Evelyn Hernandez, TPS Holder & Organizer at CARECEN-LA said the following:
“We are enthusiastic that legislators are heeding the calls around the country to ensure permanent protections for TPS Holders, DED recipients and DACA beneficiaries. Our lives and safety for our families are on the line. Since Trump’s cruel and racist termination of TPS our lives have been haunted by the harrowing reality of being separated from our families, our homes. TPS holders call on all elected officials, regardless of party affiliation to support a permanent solution for TPS holders.”
Martha Arevalo, Executive Director of CARECEN-LA issued the following statement:
“Listening to the needs of the community and those directly impacted is crucial. We want to make sure that the legislation is robust and that it truly reflects the needs of those directly impacted. We will be working with elected officials from both sides of the isle to ensure that we are successful in achieving permanent solution and that those directly impacted are involved at every step of the legislative process.”
